A penny mixed porcelain sculpture

The sound mix and altered porcelain sculptures by pottery Penny Byrne often have political advantages. Byrne’s approach recalls Barnaby Barford and the late Mort’s approach. She uses enamel paints, epoxy, putty and other materials to evolve these found statues.
“(Borne) is an artist who uses various mediums to create sculptures that sometimes elicits an inner reaction from the audience,” her statement said. “She cares about the state of the world and where we are. Her work requires us to consider our position, feel, never preach, but gently guides us to gain a deeper understanding of our times. She is not afraid to solve big problems, often solve big problems with painful humor and wisdom, and always with a deep consideration and a clever compassion.”
