Painter Sean Landers returns with more plankton paintings

Jessica Hess considers herself a landscape painter, but instead of capturing the vision of waterfalls or forests, her paintings record short graffiti she observed in Oakland, San Francisco and travels and on her trips (see some of the paintings here). Hess collaborated with sculptor Christa Assad to create a series of hand-painted ceramic sculptures. Assad created rotating stone wood pieces that drew inspiration from Hess’ themes – spray cans, paint buckets, fire hydrants, pigeons and other city debris markers. Hess then draws them by hand with acrylic and fills them with marked cityscapes. Hess will be exhibiting on March 6 at Art Works in San Rafael, California, with some of the collaborative ceramic works participating.
