Christopher Bails brings sculpture to Jesus

Christopher Bales’ mixed media group comes to La Luz de Jesus Gallery for a new show next month. The new work of the artists running from February 7 to March 1, “Death, Update and the Second Enlightenment”, found materials in flea markets and other forgotten, legendary gemstones. His works are known for their special spiritual qualities, and the gallery provides more context:

“Every doll head, animal bone or antique box found has past lives, but when integrated into a combination, it is reborn.” Therefore, his sculptures have a magical, almost holy aura of them. Raised by his Catholicism, the serious impact of Christopher Bails’ assembly evokes extreme coexistence, pain and ecstasy, troubled, plaguing and divine feelings that make his monotony both blend and familiar, but it is unique. His object simply becomes an object: impossible, indescribable, but often reminiscent of a Gothic church, a futuristic installation or a bad dream. ”
