Madeline Poole’s paintings

Middle-aged figures living in Madeleine Pfull’s paintings were extracted from the suburbs of the 1980s. “Pictures of ordinary heroism is an important aspect of my work,” the Australian artist said. Pfull said she has modeled herself to create paintings, wear wigs and accessories to embody the energy of her subjects.

“The paintings are full of familiality, humor and quirky images and themes that revolve around the lives of these richly imagined characters,” Nino Mier Gallery told the artist. “The themes she portrays exudes a specific type, mostly middle-class women, probably from the 1980s. Her ladies live in home interiors in big-store clothing, but with seriousness and pride that makes them both intellectually more interesting.”
