Collaborators share tribute to late Japanese artist Toshio Saeki

Toshio Saeki, a legendary Japanese artist Toshio Saeki, known for his work that blends porn, horror and humor, died in November at the age of 74. During his life he was nicknamed “The Godfather of Japanese Porn”, and during his past work he had a dedicated underground career with his wide interest in work. Among the symbols of this revival are performances in Nanzuka, Jeffrey Deitch Gallery, Art Basel in Hong Kong, Jiu Xiang Ju Gallery in Taipei and the Paris Art Factory.

The publication of his works is also crucial to his popularity. Gasping at the end is one of these companies. Assistant publisher Colin Turner recalls Long Drives visiting Saeki at his remote Countryside Home, through the introduction of Yasutaka Minegishi, PressPop Inc. ApspopInc. Last Gasp and Saeki’s collaboration, Torner’s legacy “Onikage” is described by Turner as a special book description of “with the special Vellum Revellum Overlays the Protess”. ”
“Saeki is an impeccable craftsman and a brave and visionary man,” Turner told Hi-Fructose. “He adopts twisted dreams and fantasies to transform them into incredible aesthetics. He is a freak and a real artist.”
Mine Gishi met Saeki 21 years ago because PressPop was interested in screen printing made by artists. “When we respect his work, which is unusual in every way and thinks it should be more well known, we started working with him and gradually expanded his activities overseas.”

“The works of the Heritage Saeki leave behind relics that shape the universal and original energy within each person from a very cool and objective perspective, which becomes a kind of “switch” to turn on a unique sensitivity that is sensitivities or hidden inside one person,” Hakuy said. “As his genius, he does it in a completely effortless, unpopular and fun way; challenge and make fun of the audience with his vast imaginative work.”
