PB&J Protein Smoothie • Sweet Pea Chef

This high-protein PB&J protein smoothie is made from four ingredients and flavors, like a peanut butter and jelly sandwich!
In this article, you will find:
One of my favorite childhood sandwiches is PB&J. I just love the contrast between cream peanut butter and fruit jam (my favorite is always strawberry jam), which all blend together, between delicious soft sliced bread.
Today, while I still love PB&J from time to time, I want to find an easy way to experience the nostalgic flavors in the daily protein smoothie.
Also, interestingly, you only need some simple ingredients and have the perfect protein smoothie.

Ingredient notes
Almond milk: You can use the milk of your choice, but I prefer the almond milk without sugar. Look for any milk without added sugar and minimal ingredients. If the smoothie is too thick, you will also need to add more almond milk to loosen it.
Frozen Strawberries: I prefer to use frozen strawberries for this protein smoothie, but you can also use fresh strawberries and add ice when mixing. You can also use other frozen berries. For example, I used frozen blueberries, frozen blackberries and frozen bananas.
Vanilla Protein: To make this smoothie high in protein add a scoop of protein powder. My favorite is Cleanish's vanilla bean-based protein, but any vanilla protein is enough. When choosing vanilla protein, look for the smallest ingredients without adding sugar and high-quality protein. That's why I love cleaning protein.
Peanut butter: Peanut butter is a very important ingredient in this PB&J smoothie. Looking for peanut butter, there are no ingredients other than peanuts, and maybe a little sea salt. You want to avoid peanut butter, which includes adding palm oil, added sugar, and want to make sure you use minimally processed peanut butter as a high-protein smoothie. If you are allergic to peanut butter, you can replace it with almond butter, cashew butter, or sunflower seed butter.
Pro smoothie tips
To avoid some common mistakes in smoothies, check out my article on how to make smoothies. Here are the basics:
- Start with liquid and end with ice.
- Choose a high-quality mixer that blends well. I use Vitamix.
- Don't add too much ice at the beginning. You can add more ice at any time, but it's hard to take it away.
- If the PB&J protein smoothie is too thick, add a small amount of almond milk to relax.
