Raspberry Vinegar Dressing Recipe
This raspberry vinaigrette dressing quickly became one of the condiments for my jazz meals. I’ve made homemade ranch and Greek seasonings before, but I want something more distinct!
Making your own salad dressing is very easy, much easier than you think, and healthier! I can wear this fruity flavor throughout the year, especially when I’m craving to pour it on a salad or use it as a chicken marinated chicken.
Since it can be made with frozen raspberries, you don’t have to worry about them being in the season. The best part about this seasoning is that you can swap the raspberries entirely for another berries or citrus fruit, and it’s just as delicious!
A simple vinegar tastes like summer
That’s why I’m obsessed with this seasoning:
- It takes 5 minutes: Mix, taste and you’re done! Perfect for busy days where you want something fresh and homemade.
- Service method: Use it as a salad seasoning, drizzle it with roasted vegetables or meat, or use it as chicken marinated.
- Customize your taste: Want a little better? Add more honey. Like Tangier? Excess lemon juice or vinegar can solve the problem. Use it as your preferred way.
Ingredients and substitutions
Here’s everything you need to make raspberry vinegar at home!
- raspberry: If you don’t have fresh ones, so does the frozen work! Just make sure to thaw and stain any extra moisture.
- White wine vinegar: Add a little Tang. If you don’t have white wine vinegar, apple cider vinegar or red wine vinegar is a good alternative with a slightly different flavor.
- Honey: If you prefer a sweeter dressing or swap it for a different flavor with maple syrup, you can add more.
- Lemon juice: Fresh is the best, but bottled lemon juice will be made in pinch.
- Dijon Mustard:Believe me. It brings some cream and mild heat to the vinegar, making it smoother and more delicious. If you don’t have Dijon, yellow mustard works, but the taste will be different.
- garlic: The chopped garlic adds the depth of the saltiness and balances the sweetness of the raspberry. If you prefer a lighter flavor, use it less or skip it altogether.
- Onion powder: This adds some delicious sweetness that can be a complete seasoning. This is a small detail that helps the flavor, but if you don’t like onions you can leave it out.
How do you make a raspberry balsamic dressing?
Making this seasoning is really, really difficult, and basically requires a million steps. No, I’m totally kidding. Making this berry dressing is as easy as a pie!
Simply add all the ingredients (raspberry, oil, white wine vinegar, lemon juice, honey and salt) to the food processor or blender and stir until smooth. Then, place it in an airtight container or jar until you are ready to use it.
That’s it! Simple!
Do I need to tighten the dressing?
It’s all up to you! If you are not a fan of seeds, you can mix the raspberries separately and filter them through a fine mesh screen to remove the raspberry seeds. Otherwise, you can make recipes like you did before and it’s delicious!
Recipe ideas and tips
There are many ways to adjust this seasoning. These are just some of my favorite thoughts:
- berry: Swap 1 cup of raspberries for blueberries, blackberries or strawberries.
- juice: Instead of using lemon juice, you can balance the berries with orange or lemon juice.
- Oil: This dressing is very light, but you can add some olive oil to add some extra flavor.
- Herbs: Add a teaspoon or two of fresh herbs, such as rosemary, basil or thyme, to give this seasoning a higher flavor.
- onion: Like the taste of green onions? Add half of the scallions while mixing.
- hot: Another thing I want to add to this seasoning is through a little red pepper flakes or half of the jalapeno.

- Meat: Drizzle with nipples for grilled salmon or easy-to-grill chicken breast.
- balsam: Add balm to the seasoning and heat a cup or so on medium-low heat on the stove in the pan to reduce and drizzle.

How long will this dressing last?
If raspberry vinegar is stored in an airtight container, it will last in the refrigerator for about two weeks.
Frequently Asked Questions
Here are the most common questions about this recipe:
Can I use this vinegar as a marinade?
Yes! This raspberry vinegar is an excellent marinade, especially for chicken. Let the chicken marinate for 30 minutes to an hour and it will absorb all these rich, sweet flavors!
Can I make vinegar in advance?
Absolutely! Actually, this is a good choice. Let the vinegar sit for about an hour to blend in the flavor more, but it becomes just as delicious immediately after you make it. Store it in the refrigerator until you are ready to use it.
