Elaine Wynn’s Francis Bacon heads to lacma, 20 pieces to Christie

The estate of top collector and casino tycoon Elaine Wynn, who died last April, has decided on the future of the famous art holding company and has held several auctions in November and visited the museum next year.

“My mother celebrated every piece she collected,” Gillian Wynn, one of her two daughters, said in a statement. “She felt lucky to live with everyone, but always understood that she was just a temporary custodian. Good artistic moves and provoking us, then had to continue doing the same for others.”

The Los Angeles County Museum of Art (Wynn) has served on the board since 2015 and will receive Francis Bacon until her death Three studies by Lucian Freud (1969), Wynn paid $142.2 million at a Christie’s auction in 2013. Christie also announced that it will sell 20 works of Wynn’s Collection as part of “Elaine: Elaine Wynn’s Collection,” which will be distributed among three sales during the fall sale of homes in New York. Nine will be on display at night sales in the 20th century, two will be on sale in the 21st century, and nine will be on sale in the post-war and contemporary day sales. The plots are expected to reach at least $75 million.
