Jeff Altman, Hunter, explains how to respond by asking questions.

How many are you looking for? Version 1

Let’s use a if case. You are attending an online event. You are at a job fair.

You’re not having a formal interview, you’re doing some networking and talking to recruiters. They talk to you about your background. They have a position and they ask you. . . And it’s obvious that you have a background that’s interesting for them and we’ll be asked about how much you’re going to do, how much you’re looking for.

Suppose they ask the question first. How much do you want to do? Very happy to answer. Can I ask you a question? certainly.

Can you tell me about the salary range for this position? They give the answer. Is there flexibility? Yes, maybe a little flexibility. OK

Then you answer questions about compensation. Why? Because if you answer first, most of the time, they won’t tell you the scope. Now, I also want to say that when I am in the case where someone asks my question, the way I answer is that I want you to hear some sound and I just want to choose the two numbers around.

Suppose this work is paid between 100 and 110 for the sake of argument. Is there any flexibility? Yes, maybe a little flexibility. But I need you to listen.

Whenever I talk about salary range, people only hear the highest number. They never heard the final number. And, you know, there is a numerical range between 100 and 110.

So, please understand that you may be provided with less than 110 or 112, or any number you think of. Understand that your responsibility is to convince the employer that you have this value. Absolutely true.

It is your responsibility to convince them that you have this value. But it was really too early to fix it when it comes to answering the initial questions. But that’s what the employer is trying to do.

So right away, all you have to do is push them a little. So in that example, I gave 100 to 110. Any flexibility in this? Can you be a little flexible if you need it? certainly.

I lowered the salary I wanted! Can it be fixed?

You can be a little flexible. Great! And, you’ve moved them a little bit away from the pan and moved them into their thinking, knowing they might need a little higher. So this is today’s performance.

Hope you find this helpful. If you do this, you can contact me in several ways. Of course, the first one contacted me on LinkedIn.

I have linkedin.com forward slash slash slash on my page. It mentions that you listen to the show because I like to hear from the listeners. It just gave a bright smile on my face.

Next, if you are an executive and are interested in my coach, please email me my jeffaltman. In the subject line, mention what you are interested in coaching. I will return to you. We will set a time to speak.

We’ll figure out if this makes sense. I want to know clearly. I’m not here to be your recruiter.

I no longer work in search. I am a coach who helps people find their next position, so my job is not free. I didn’t do this as a charity.

I’m here to see if I can help you and if your background can provide services. And, if you are not an executive, the best place to connect with me is JobsearchCoachinghq.com. That’s my website, where I curated the information I created and the information others created. Of course, it is with their permission.

You can ask me a question. So now, there are over 400 content out there, and the ability to ask me questions. So again, JobsearchCoachinghq.com is the site.

And, by the way, I haven’t really mentioned this on the website. In addition to job search coaching, I also performed executive coaching and life coaching. And I’ve been doing it for years.

So if you are interested in this, please send me a message again on my email address Jeffaltman, thebiggamehunter.us. Tell me what you are interested in and I will come back to you and we will discuss it. Hope you’ve helped this. And, at the same time, I wish you a wonderful day.
