You can still book Lufthansa to travel to Europe through your partner Miles

Lufthansa’s first class with miles of booking has been challenging for years. Unless you have Lufthansa Miles and more miles (hard to earn in the US), you are limited to booking within a few days of departure. Over the years, this window has changed less and less, most of the time from 15 days to three days before departure. Therefore, to book a top-notch Lufthansa ticket, you must be flexible.

However, recently, there have been rumors that Lufthansa no longer opens first-class award space for partners like Air Canada Aeroplan and United Mileageplus. While it has really become more difficult to book these awards over the past few months, rest assured that you can still do so.

Points Path – a browser extension running on Google flights to show reward prices – tracks the space for the Lufthansa Awards ceremony, from the United States to Europe and vice versa. Available for professional subscribers, this provides you a one-stop shop for finding the first-class Lufthansa seats available.

Point path

Point Path shares 30 days of Lufthansa’s top-notch award space dating back to late April 2025. The data shows that while it is indeed easier to book first-class awards from Europe to the United States through partner Miles, it is still possible to book our awards for the European and European space.

In fact, at the time of writing, we see reward seats from Boston Logan International Airport (BOS) to Munich Airport (MUC) and O’Hare International Airport (ORD) to Frankfurt Airport (FRA).

Air Canada

Historical data from point paths suggests that in the past month, most routes from the United States to the FRA and MUC have open reward space at some point. These include farther West Coast airports such as San Francisco International Airport (SFO), to FRA and Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) to MUC. However, flights with new Allegris top-notch products are still not available for booking with partner Miles.

Point Path data also suggest that over five days, from the U.S. to Europe, Lufthansa has no first-class award space – which could be a rumor about Lufthansa that blocks first-class award space from the U.S. to Europe. During this period, European to US awards are still available.

If you want to book yourself a top-notch ticket from Lufthansa, you will usually find the best deals for Aeroplan and Mileageplus.

Bottom line

Lufthansa first class. Eric Rosen/Select guy

While there are rumors that Lufthansa has begun blocking first-class reward spaces, these awards are largely unfounded. Our friends at Point Path shared a month of Lufthansa’s top-notch space, and despite more European awards, the opposite remains consistent. That said, you can still only book for three days from the time you leave.
