You can save 30% on Amazon purchases with just 1 Amex Point

Whether you are stocking up with family staples or shopping back to school, there are many ways to save on Amazon orders. And, if you have an American Express card that earns membership reward points, you may be eligible for a new offer that can help you save over 30% on Amazon purchases.

Usually, it’s not great to use membership bonus points for Amazon purchases, as the rate of return per point is lower than the rate of travel redemption. However, you can save up to 30% on Amazon purchases by cashing out almost 1 American Express membership bonus points and offering some current target quotes.

Not all AMEX cardholders will target the same Amazon offer, so check your account. For example, some SAW quotes save 10% (up to $10) at the time of publication, but members of at least one TPG lounge on Facebook saw 30% savings quotes (up to $30). Remember, these are targeted quotes, so they will be different. Hope you have a targeted offer.

Only products sold on Amazon are eligible for discounts. Third-party listings won’t trigger any savings, but you can take advantage of the deal by storing a dining or retail gift card. For example, gift cards from companies such as Whole Foods, Uber Eats, and Nordstrom may qualify.

Here are the steps you should take to turn 1 Amex membership bonus point into a serious Amazon savings:

  • Link your qualified AMEX card to your Amazon account. You can do this through the AMEX application or through the Amazon website.
  • Check if you have targeted quotes.
  • Activate quotes in your Amazon account.
  • Load your shopping cart into qualified items.
  • We do not recommend using points for the entire purchase payment as this may not be the best use of your membership reward points. Instead, use as few dots as possible at checkout (as shown below). You need to use an American Express card that earns membership reward points on your payment method.

You may find quotes for other reward programs from time to time. For example, we used to see a 40% discount (up to $20) offer when we purchased Discover Rewards from Amazon.

The additional quote allows target customers to use 1 Citi Thanks Rewards Point for up to 50% off, 1 mile of 1 mile, up to $20, and 100 Chase Ultimate Rewards Points for up to 50%.

Sometimes you can also find targeted quotes on the Amazon product page below the item price, so keep your eyes peeled while browsing.
