Jeanne Vicerial

Jeanne Vicerial summons the eternal, transformative power of armor and protective clothing from the length of black ropes, lines and thin metal. Draw her work titled armor, The artist continues to create mysterious sculptures, questioning the nature of existence, consciousness and change.
In the artist’s current solo exhibition NymphIn Templon, the mysterious figure of darkness is in silent, contemplative observation. Some works, such as “Persephone n°3” or “Présence, Amnios”, depict the appearance of human faces, while others such as “Mue N°9, nymph” may be inhabited in some kind of character or otherworldly deities, not in the body.
Vicerial recently introduced metals such as copper and gold into her work, emphasizing the power and internal energy of women, which the gallery describes as “as an object – as food.” For the artist, these works revolve around the nature of deformation, both in the process of transforming a rope into a fully formed sculpture, and in the biological and emotional way that women change over time.
Like her armor, The numbers are in Nymph Have personal strength that will increase when you get together. Viceral uses words like “Gardienne” in her title, the French of “Guardian” to suggest protection. “mue” translates into “molting”, just like the way an animal can shed her feathers or skin to free up new growth.
Exquisite and soft, substitute characters are tall, elegant, and eternal sages at the same time. Artists position their vulnerability as an advantage, taking advantage of the social taboos of women’s aging and the inevitable cycle of life.
Nymph Continued in Paris until July 19. Explore more on Vicerial’s website and Instagram.
