Mark Anthony Dyson called me over the weekend of July 4 and asked him to write an opinion on what the recruiter wanted. I took the attitude of what they were looking for in their resume.
What are the pros and cons of using resume templates?
What I’m looking for is:
1. Do they have experience doing what my client or client needs someone to do?
2. Where did they do it? This is both recently and which company. Due to the brand of employees, some companies are more attractive to customers of specific companies.
3. Can I find information my clients care about within one page of their resume?
4. Will their LinkedIn profile match your resume? Remember, I did recruit. I’m digging LinkedIn to find people. I want the resume and LinkedIn configuration files to be consistent, not the same, but consistent with each other.
5. Are they client-local? If my clients care, are they willing to travel? If my client doesn’t relocate someone or pay for the interview, I wonder if they will pay for the interview and relocation.
6. Are their resumes and profiles sufficient to demonstrate good written communication skills? Of course, this does not guarantee verbal communication skills, but it helps.
7. Where do they get their degrees? There is a difference between Boston University and Mumbai University.
