Camden Arts Centre in London receives 99-year lease on current home

The Camden Art Center is an ancient London art space that has been maintained for a long time.
The Arts Centre announced on Tuesday it has secured a 99-year lease on its current home after raising £1.9 million that needs to be done. Its lease was previously due to expiration in 2027.
The Camden Art Center has a record of complying with forward-looking plans. The center held a performance by Hilma Af Klint in 2006, a decade of record-breaking by the Guggenheim Museum, while Jesse Darling won the 2023 Turner Award at the Camden Art Center performance.
In recent years, the center has also exhibited for highly-watched artists such as the painter Allison Katz, a painter who appeared at the Venice Biennale. Julien Creuzet, who later represented France at the Biennale; Mohammed Sami is currently nominated for the Turner Award, the UK’s top art award.
Martin Clark, deputy director of the Camden Arts Center, led the effort to secure a 99-year lease with Guy Halamish, chairman of the center’s board of directors. According to the Centre, artists from Kara Walker to Alvaro Barrington contributed £1.9 million in fundraising.
“This is an extraordinary achievement of the charity and provides much-needed financial resilience, following the recent major cuts to our public funding. On our 60th anniversary, I have no better way to celebrate our past and be confident in our future.”
