New cardholder Aeroplan Card From the first three months of account opening, you can earn 75,000 bonus points after spending $4,000 in the first three months of purchase. Plus, they can earn an additional 25,000 bonus points after spending $20,000 in the first 12 months of opening.

If you rent a property, putting your rent on an Aeroplan card is a great way to meet high spending requirements. Remember that each rental transaction may incur a small fee.

Remember that since Chase issues Aeroplan cards, Chase’s 5/24 rules can be followed. If you have opened five or more credit cards in the past 24 months, you may not be eligible to open an Aeroplan card.

Benefits of Aeroplan Card

How often do you see a card with a $95 annual fee that grants you an automatic elite identity? and Aeroplan Cardcardholders will get automatic Aeroplan 25K status for the rest of their card opening and the rest of the next calendar year.

We recommend turning on the Aeroplan card at the beginning of the calendar year so that you can enjoy 25K as long as possible.

With Aeroplan 25K, elite members are entitled to the following privileges:

  • Automatic Star Alliance Silver Elite Status and Get Priority Wait List and Standby
  • Free Avis first choice plus elite identity
  • Free check bag allowance on Air Canada flights (two bags, 23 kg each)
  • Priority check-in and check-in

After the introduction period, you can retain (or extend) that status – but cardholders are motivated to spend a lot of time doing this. Cardholders must spend $15,000 on the card during the calendar year to remain at 25,000 (effective at the end of the next calendar year).

As of January 1, 2026, Aeroplan will move to a spending-based system to make money and maintain elite status, while those with higher spending will be rewarded. Starting in 2026, cardholders can achieve Aeroplan 35K identity by spending $75,000 in a calendar year. Cardholders of Aeroplan cards must spend $50,000 on cards by December 31, 2025 to secure Aeroplan 35K status until January 2027.

In addition, the main indicators of achieving elite identity will be based on identity qualification credits. SQC will also release additional allowances for every 10,000 SQC accumulated throughout the year, called milestone benefits.

Cardholders receive the following SQC:

  • 5,000 square feet per calendar year
  • After spending $25,000 on an Aeroplan card, 10,000 square feet
  • After spending $50,000 on an Aeroplan card, 10,000 square feet

Aeroplan members earn up to 25,000 square feet per calendar year’s Aeroplan card.

Even if you don’t remain elite after your first year, all the other benefits you get from your Aeroplan card:

  • First-time free check bag on Air Canada flight for main good people, up to eight same companions in the same booking
  • No foreign transaction fees
  • Travel protection such as automatic rental insurance, luggage delay insurance, roadside assistance, cancellation and interruption insurance, and travel delay reimbursement
  • Your global admission, TSA Precheck or Nexus application fee up to $120 per four years stated credit
  • Benefits of the World Elite Mastercard, including getting a priceless Mastercard experience, daily discounts and offers, 24/7 concierge service, and more

Earn points on Aeroplan Card

For the $2,000 you spend on your card per month, you can get a bonus of up to 500 points – up to 1,500 points per month. If you are a heavier stock, these reward points may add up. You can earn up to 18,000 bonus points per year.

This benefit will come in handy if you plan to spend 25K on your Aeroplan card or to lift your status to another level.

Redemption points on Aeroplan card

For those trying to optimize their points and miles, Aeroplan cardholders can redeem their points for up to 1.25 cents through the Payment Return Tool (up to 200,000 points per year for travel purchases).

In addition to the standard redemption point categories for annual fees, catering, grocery stores (excluding Target and Walmart) and travel, there are promotional categories throughout the year.

These include:

  • April 1 to December 31: Gas stations and home decoration stores
  • July 1 to December 31: Department Stores and Utilities
  • October 1 to December 31: Amazon.com

Transfer points on Aeroplan card

You can redeeve points to over 1,300 destinations through Star Alliance and Air Canada’s more than 45 airline partners, and fewer points are required than other loyalty programs.

Even better, Air Canada has published distance-based reward charts with a large number of sweet spots. For example, you can fly from Lufthansa (FRA) to Lufthansa (FRA) in business class Frankfurt Airport (FRA) at Lufthansa (FRA) for only 70,000 points.
