How long should I wait before following up?
How many are you looking for? Delay and deflection
“How long should I wait after the second interview? I’m assuming that I have to follow up after the second interview. Now you really don’t need it and explain why: at the end of the second interview, when they ask you questions, maybe the last thing you should ask them is, “So let me understand the timeline of your decision to make the next step or the offer, or what is your next step?” That way you know how they will do it, leaving yourself in the ocean like this wanderer waiting for the raft to appear, or that life savers are meaningless.
So at the end of the interview Always ask, “Can you give me a picture of the next timeline and what these steps might be so that you know in this way when you should follow them up if they say “Well, we hope to make a decision next Tuesday. ” Great, “If I didn’t hear back from you on Wednesday, would I follow you up with you?” “Of course, of course.” OK, that’s how you should handle it.
Now, given that you’re not asking this question, you know, this has obviously been going on for a while, so I’ll contact them nowuh, um, simply put, “Sorry, I don’t want to be a pest, but I haven’t heard from you in a while.” “And thought I would just ask when you can hear the next step or if you want to expand the offer.” That’s the easiest way. You can do it by phone.
