We haven’t been there Excited by the recent MacOS update, but with the Macos 26 Tahoe, it seems we will get one of the biggest overhauls in a while.
Between visual redesigns and some exciting professional features, everyone in the Mac 26 Tahoe has something, including one that Mac Nerds absolutely loves.

Liquid glass
It has been a while since Apple launched its visual remodel. Liquid glass is what Apple calls its next era of software design.
Signed by soft transparency and subtle gradients, glass-like designs appear almost every interface, including menu bars, lock screens, application icons and sidebars in the application. This is a nice change from what I’ve seen so far, although some designers are worried that it might interfere with the basic functionality. The aesthetic changes in MACOS are not as dramatic as iOS has experienced, but it seems like a fresh paint that is fully appreciated.

There are some minor design changes, such as the ability to change folder colors or add emojis to them. The control center is located at the top of the menu bar and has also made it completely transparent. What’s more, Apple has added more customizations so you can add more quick settings to change. You can even add specific settings in common applications such as Zoom.
The Macos Tahoe also brought last year’s iPhone’s design tweaks: the Icons color, which applies a unified look to all your icons at once. Honestly, I was surprised that this was Macos because the reviewers didn’t accept it very much.
Main spotlight update
This is the feature I’m most excited about. The Spotlight search tool has always been one of my favorite features in MacOS, and I’ve been waiting for Apple to take this popular feature to the next level. Smarter at almost every level, providing apps, documents, and even clipboard history quickly. But this update is much more than that.
First, Spotlight can now perform system operations and even in-app operations, such as playing a podcast or launching a recording. You can even fill in parameters like whom you email to whom – also in the spotlight!
But wait, there are more. You can even use the quick keys to speed up further. Type SM to send a message or AR to create a reminder. Consider using these levels of key commands. You can also set your own quick keys, which can indeed expand functionality and customize. For example, you can set up quick keys to take actions in the application you are using, allowing you to quickly set up a task from your keyboard. It’s for Mac Nerds, they already know all the other key commands, and I can’t wait to try it out.
AI-driven shortcuts
Shortcut keys can be a very powerful way to implement tasks on your Mac. With Macos Tahoe, these upgrades are made with Apple Intelligence, allowing you to set shortcuts like summarizing text or generating images. You can even click Chatgpt (or device neuroengine) when necessary to build action chains that can be very useful. For example, you might create a shortcut that compares comments from text in notes in lectures with audio transcription, and then summarizes the differences using Apple Intelligence.
