Thomas Medicus’s Transformation Sculpture

Thomas Medicus’ fantasy works include “What It Looks”, a transformed sculpture of 144 hand-painted glass strips that reveal new images as they rotate. Each strip is drawn separately from the other, specifically, when the part becomes 90 degrees, a new image is revealed. Check out more of his past experimental works below.

Medicus is known for his work on transformation, but he has also worked in stained glass, digital art, animation, public sculpture and other fields. His website offers more context: “He studied social work at MCI Innsbruck before attending Glasfachschule Kramsach, a glass art school. His studio is located in the longtime company of stained glass window curtains tiroler glasmalerei, where he was also hired as a master of Glazier.”
