I’m Jeff Altman, the big game hunter, head coach of Jobsearchcoachinghq.com. Welcome to another video about job search. This is one of the tough interview questions. Those who are designed to make you squirm and feel uncomfortable jump around like a train seal.
The problem is, OK, you have 10 minutes to impress me. Obviously, this is not a practical problem, but is designed to put people in a defensive state. Now, I know that the classic answer is one of two things.
First, goodbye. The other is to let you perform like a train seal. I’m imitating.
But neither of these are correct. Both are not mature. I want to provide a way that I think is more efficient.
So if someone has the arrogance of rudeness and arrogance to ask this question, I hope you flip it on them. I want you to ask them, why? Just quiet. why is that? The reason is obviously that this person is a lunatic, or that he is trying to do it or that she is trying to make herself a lunatic.
In this particular case, who is the calm mind, the person who says goodbye, or the person who jumps like a train seal, or asks why? In fact, it’s a smarter way to turn the interview around in his mind. And you may see a smile on their faces. You may get a response to a basically illustrated effect, so far I’ve seen some great people and the choice between me is tough.
Then invite follow-up questions. Where are the defects? Because if you’ve met great people, why not choose one of them? Then you hear the question. Or, you just see an absolute madman in front of you.
It confirms your initial intention to go out, but you have at least explored it and see if there is an option to be sought and why. So again, don’t go out, don’t jump around and perform. Just ask a question, why? Hope you find this helpful.
