If you ever had an upstairs neighbor, you might be familiar with the muffled weight of echoing footsteps, resonance, broken glass, and too many sounds of talking to each other in late-night parties.
In a short film by Laura Boráros, a filmmaker at Czech RPUBLIC, titled “Snovník” or “Dreamer”, introduces a bright red protagonist who cannot fall asleep when he cannot ignore the violent resonance from above the bedroom. He took his hands, and he went upstairs and knocked on the neighbor’s door-will be swallowed up by entertainment only by staring at a small keyhole.
Boráros immerses the audience in bold colors, painted in shapes and scenes of the Sea City Rage Building. The animation uses frozen motion to touch mechanical but smooth tones, creating a surreal environment that accurately captures the experience of the very feverish dream “snovník”.
