Who is eligible for the Chase Sapphire Reserve 100K bonus?

There have been many changes in this update, including the addition of multiple statement credits, automatic elite status, and the increase in annual fees that usually accompany these changes. The card now carries $795 annual fee – $245 more than the previous $550 fee – but has a lot of statement points and benefits to offset that jump.

Plus, you will get one of the most valuable and flexible currencies in the form of Chase Ultimate Rewards points.

Currently, new applicants in Sapphire Reserve can earn 100,000 bonus points and After spending $5,000 in purchases from the first three months of account opening, I received $500 in ChaseTravel℠ Credit*. This offer is about to end.

According to TPG’s August 2025 valuation, the bonus is worth up to $2,550 (including Chase Travel Credit).

Am I eligible for Chase Sapphire Reserve Bonus?

Chase recently updated its bonus rules eligibility. Previously, you could only get a sapphire welcome bonus once every 48 months. Chase now implements a new timeframe of over 48 months in terms of welcome bonuses.

A representative from Chase confirmed the following for TPG: “You will be able to have both Sapphire Conservation Area and Chase Sapphire Priority® Card (See rates and fees). Any card offered by new account bonuses will be eligible and will be based on including previously earned bonus offers and the number of cards opened and closed, and so on. ”

If you have received a welcome bonus for Sapphire Reserves before, you will not be eligible for another Sapphire Reserves Welcome Bonus. Even though it has been several years since you’ve been awarded a welcome reward on a specific sapphire card, you’re likely not eligible for other bonuses Same Sapphire card.

This also applies to Sapphire Preferred, so if you get a welcome bonus in your preferred you won’t qualify for another sapphire preferred bonus.

Other things to note are:

  • If you are the current sapphire preferred cardholder, you may not be eligible for a sapphire reserve bonus.
  • If you are no longer a sapphire customer and have never received a bonus on your sapphire reserve, you are likely to be eligible.

For example, I currently have a sapphire preference and never have a sapphire reserve. As a currently active sapphire client, I can apply and get approval from the sapphire reserve, but I almost certainly won’t be eligible for a bonus.

Additionally, TPG Senior Editorial Director Nick Ewen currently owns Sapphire Reserve, and he prefers sapphire many years ago. He can apply for Sapphire Preferred, but since he is a current sapphire reserve client, he is not eligible for the bonus. Even though he lowered the card, he had previously earned a bonus on the sapphire reserves, so he almost certainly couldn’t get another one.

When applying for a sapphire reserve, the pop-up tool will tell you if you are eligible for a welcome bonus before submitting the application and performing a credit check. This is the best way to confirm whether you are eligible for a welcome bonus. If you are not eligible for a welcome bonus, you can still continue to use the application and try to get approval without the bonus.

5/24 Rules

Chase is known for its infamous 5/24 rule that states that you can’t open five or more cards in the past 24 months all Banks and issuers.

This includes accounts where you are an authorized user; however, many business cards do not count on 5/24 status. Therefore, in order to obtain Chase Sapphire approval and qualify for the Sapphire Reserve welcome bonus, you must follow Chase’s 5/24 rule.

Transfer credit limit

Additionally, if you have multiple credit cards with Chase, you may have reached the maximum available credit limit, which may result in the application being rejected when applying for Sapphire Reserve.

If this happens, you can call Chase to reconsider line at 1-888-270-2127 and ask them to transfer some credits from their existing Chase cards so that you can get approval for your sapphire reserves.

Can I have both a sapphire reserve and a sapphire?

Previously, you could only hold one sapphire card at a time. But with this new refresh Sapphire Conservation AreaYou can now hold sapphire reserves and Chase Sapphire’s first choice at the same time.

If you have previously won other bonuses due to new bonus eligibility restrictions, you will not qualify for another popular bonus.

Additionally, if you don’t want to hold these two cards, you can upgrade and downgrade between sapphire products.

Bottom line

The current offer for the remodeled Chase Sapphire Reserve is excellent, but is about to end. According to TPG’s August 2025 valuation, it’s worth $2,550, giving you plenty of ultimate bonus points. For those looking for a premium travel card with good yields and benefits, sapphire reserves should be at the top of your list.

Remember to be aware of any pop-ups in the application process, as one of them can indicate whether you are eligible for a welcome reward.
