Best Organic Mattress (2025): Certified Non-toxic, Natural Sleep

Organic bedding brand Coyuchi recently launched its own organic mattress, combining cotton, wool and Dunlop latex on individually wrapped coils. While Coyuchi’s linen was very good, I was a little nervous to try out the company’s first mattress. After all, bedding is not a mattress, and expertise doesn’t always leapfrog effort. But, in this case, it does. Coyuchi’s organic natural REM mattress is very firm and not too firm and perfect for those who lack sleep style and tend to sleep in various ways (sides, back, stomach). I’ve never been uncomfortable.

The design starts with a wrap coil on a wool pad, then topped with smaller coils, latex and wool like Midwest dips, and then covered with organic cotton. Given the distance between the coil and the top, there is surprisingly advantageous support, the mattress also provides good sport isolation. Natural REM can be used with or without box springs, Coyuchi said. I tested it on the spring box for a few months and then spent a week on the floor without noticing the difference. At 11 inches deep, there is room for seating, although I didn’t need it.

Cotton and wool layers are GOTS certified organics, while Dunlop latex is GOLS certified. The material is uncovered, which is very useful for anyone who is troubled by industrial dyes. Like most of these organic options, uch is free of chemicals, foam or glue.
