Starting Tuesday, June 17, Amazon is restarting the main content of its Young People Program and will take effect immediately, and young people aged 18-24 can sign up for a six-month Prime trial for free. After the trial is completed, young people can enjoy all the offers of Prime membership at the usual fee of 50%.
After six months, the primary price for young people is $7.49 per month or $69 per year.
The program is essentially a rebranding of Prime students, carefully driving new memberships ahead of Prime Day in mid-July. This is not the first time we have heard of young people’s Prime. On November 25, 2024, Amazon blog post announced the launch of Prime for for Younges, with the same six-month trial and a 50% discount on price. Coincidentally, November’s announcement was four days before Black Friday began.
Amazon Prime is a hugely successful membership program for shopping behemoths, with privileges like free shipping and rewards and access to Prime videos. For young people, the primary adults of young people are more inclusive than the primary students, because not all young people go to college or other educational programs after the age of 18.
