I planned to have an interview at 10 a.m. but waited for nearly 3 hours for the interviewer. They did not apologize and explained that the interviewer was too busy. I think I’ve had enough waiting to ask them to reschedule. Is it acceptable to ask them to reschedule?

After follow up on the interview

“I’m Jeff Altman, a big game hunter. People hire me around the world for job coaches and career advice without BS because it’s easier for me to find jobs and succeed.

Someone wrote to me saying that he would wait for the interviewer for three hours. They did not apologize. I have to assume the company didn’t apologize and explain that the interviewer was too busy. They thought it was enough, they asked for a rescheduling and wondered if that was OK.

You know, I just simply answered, “If you were three hours late to go for an interview, would they even talk to you again?” Of course not. You know, they expect an apology and may not talk to you, which raises the question of their perception of people working in this kind of work keeping people for three hours. Yes, it is acceptable to ask for a reschedule. I will never wait for three hours, and neither should you. That’s abuse.

The fact that the interviewer is busy, they can’t pop up for two seconds and say, “I’m sorry to let you wait for you. Why don’t you drink coffee? I think we can meet again…”, and you know, they’ll give you a time to work for them, rather than having you sit there like there’s nothing you can do, um, um, um, um, um, um, um, um.

I won’t bother with this company, but I respect the fact that some people need to work and are willing to endure abuse at the company. But just know that if you have multiple offers and it is a choice to treat you properly, then, I’m very reluctant to say “yes” to this company, and that’s a simple reason, those who don’t matter to me value me enough to think that the etiquette I’ve given me to explain that they used to have a problem, they’re dealing with them and running.

I provide a lot of information for free in the Jobsearch.com community. Go to the website, download free content, and become an insider. Yes, I accused you of this, you know, what do you think? Do I work for free? But you know, you’ll get my coach too. You can also access more content and information that can help you. Again, that’s the Jobsearch.com community. ”
