Border Airlines unveils 3 cities, 15 route expansion

Frontier Airlines will fly to two new cities this fall and return them to a third. Starting in October, budget airlines will launch uninterrupted services from Richmond International Airport (RIC) in Virginia and Corpus Christi International Airport (CRP) in Texas.
Additionally, the Denver-based airline will return to Tulsa, Oklahoma for the first time in three years.
It is part of a larger 15-route expansion, and the ultra-low-cost airline unveiled Tuesday, covering a large portion of the country. Frontier’s new route will allow airlines to fly more out of local bases in Texas, New York, Chicago, Missouri and its Denver International Airport (DEN).

Meanwhile, budget operators grew in New York. A year after Frontier launched its service at JFK, the addition of O’Hare and Denver will provide airlines with 10 routes from major East Coast hubs, as shown in the following chart from Aviation Analytics Cirium.

Of the 15 flights announced Tuesday, most are brand new for the border, with three exceptions: It last flew between Denver and Tulsa in 2022, which the carrier flew around Oklahoma Airport.
Moreover, it previously operated MCI-TPA and PHX-SAT flights over the past decade and ended in 2018.

Bottom line
Frontier did not announce any cuts on Tuesday, but we should note that airlines have driven a more graceful timeline amid the industry’s concerns about travel demand throughout the coming months.
In August and September, its overall departure rate will drop by more than 11% compared to last year, according to Cirium Data.
