When you are created, fire, fire, rif
There are a lot of suggestions and you will talk about researching salary ranges for positions like yours. I’m going to work with something general; please understand I’m just taking this as an example.
Suppose the salary range you are looking for is $100,000-$125,000. If you are in negotiations and you quote them, The employer immediately puts it zero for $100,000, and in fact, your price is $125,000.
I won’t tell you to scrape off their numbers and take out $100,000 and convert it to $115,000-$125,000. The same problem will happen. I want you to go straight to do it, very simply saying, “If you do some research, you’ll see a lot of numbers. Some of them mentioned $100,000. Most of them talked about a higher range, probably close to a $125,000. I want to keep it clear with you. I’m not an average performer. I’m not an average performance. Before, I could do it for you, and it could be better.”
Pay attention to what I did? I admit the average number. I would also say, “I’m not average. I’ve been above average before. I’ve done it before. I want to do it again and do it for you.” And you didn’t solve it.
You don’t want to be considered average. You always want to be considered the above average. Remember when you’re always in trouble at the end of the day, right? And you can always say no. Initially, when you are in a salary negotiation or being interviewed, they start thinking that their value is based on your previous income, they will always make up the lower numbers, and you always want to push their earliest time to higher numbers.
