Elon Musk’s lawyer claims he “does not use computers”

Elon Musk’s lawyer Claiming that he “don’t use computers” in court on Sunday, the filing is related to his lawsuit against Sam Altman and Openai. But Musk has posted pictures on X several times in recent months or referred to his laptop, with public evidence that he owns and appears to have used at least one computer.
Musk and his artificial intelligence startup Xai sued OpenAI in February 2024, accusing the company of breach of contract, which abandoned its creation agreement to develop AI “for the benefit of humanity” and instead chose to “maximize Microsoft’s profits for Microsoft.”
The court filed Sunday was filed in a Friday document against Openai, which accused Musk and Xai of failing to fully comply with the discovery process. Openai claims Musk’s lawyers do not intend to collect any documents from him. In the filing this weekend, Musk’s lawyers claimed they told Openai on June 14 that they were “searching Mr. Musk’s phone, searching for his emails, and Mr. Musk does not use a computer”.
Musk and Xai Corp’s lawyers did not immediately respond to requests for comment. In the filing, Musk’s legal team made claims that it was resisting discovery efforts.
X told several Wired’s employees that although Musk worked mostly through his cell phone, he would occasionally see him using his laptop.
Musk also made a public statement on the computer he appears to have recently owned. In December 2024, Musk posted a picture of his laptop on X with the caption, “This is a picture of my laptop.” The post answered the 15-minute game stream in the Diablo video game series, claiming that he was “testing Starlink streaming in the air”, suggesting that he might be using his laptop for professional purposes. Musk has played it more than 10 times since August 2024, showing what appears to be the desktop layout of the game, which is usually said to be doing it to test Starlink’s streaming capabilities.
Musk also mentioned the latest mention that it seems to be the same laptop. In May 2025, Musk said on X that he was “still using my old PC laptop with @Doge stickers.” The post answered a user who asked what his game settings were and whether it was a “full gaming PC.” The user has been replying to different 15 minutes of Diablo streams.
Images posted by Musk in his reply show a black laptop with the aviation brand, a computer style that usually runs windows and is popular among gamers and is stickered on a dollar bill in the commemoration “Doge.” (Later, Memecoin seemed to inspire the name of the so-called government efficiency department.) Musk said in the same article that the laptop was three years old and the sticker was given to him by a German man.
