Do recruiters respect toughness or look desperate?
Who will do a better job for you – recruiting people or coaches? (polling)
Will recruiters respect tenacity or look desperate? Well, like many things, it depends. It depends on whether you are annoying or not, you know, if you call them a lot, you know, you keep interrupting them, but in badge. “Did you hear something? Did you hear something? Did you hear something?” Yes, trust me, when recruiters hear it from clients, they call you.
If a third-party recruiter, if an agent recruiter doesn’t call you, one of two things happens: they don’t hear from the client, you’re rejected, and they don’t want to argue with you. They don’t want to hear this crying story, you know, “Shh, I’m turned down for the job I really want.” It’s just a waste of time because from their perspective you don’t pay them anything, but the company pays them to find talent. You failed. You don’t want to hear this, but you fail, and it ends up in the end that they don’t want to waste any time. So one of two things happened: they haven’t heard anything yet, or you failed, and they don’t want to get engaged to you.
So, do they respect tenacity? Looks desperate? You know, sometimes toughness works, but at least with third-party recruiters, agents and company recruiters sometimes don’t work often. They are the messengers of hiring managers. Hiring managers don’t want to see you and your tenacity breaks their day. It looks desperate, annoying, rude. Similarly, with company recruiters, if they hear the hiring manager, the manager wants to meet you, they will call and schedule, or they will schedule via email and schedule. So, you know, it doesn’t help. People are fully isolated from external contacts, just knowing that your ongoing communication isn’t really doing anything to improve your candidacy.
Now, if a week later, after the interview, you hear nothing, send someone an email that basically says, “Didn’t hear your voice, am I still fighting for it, or am I being rejected?” Indeed, you know that’s a fair thing. The next week, not on Friday at 5:00 pm, OK? That was just sitting until Monday. It may be buried in their inbox. Do it on Friday morning or Thursday, and this is done on these lines. Say another week and then send a message to them, it’s not hopeless, nor does it go beyond annoying, okay?
