Barcelona Adventure – Fitnessista

Share some of our favorite Barcelona adventures.

Hi, friends! Are you OK? Hopefully your week has a surprising start! We enjoyed beautiful sights, shopping, delicious food and some tourist attractions in Sevilla. It’s the perfect combination of activity and relaxation time. I hope your summer is also going well.

For today’s post, I would like to share some Barcelona adventures + where we will stay if you plan to book a trip. We were able to stay for a few nights before and after the Disney cruise and fell in love with Barcelona. Of course, from Gaudi’s iconic design to more modern styles, Gothic cathedrals and Roman ruins, it has a perfect architectural combination. It also has the feeling of a huge city (because it’s a lol), and there’s a lot to see and do. We were easily there for weeks and there were some highlights.

Barcelona adventure

Dining in Barcelona

The food in Barcelona is 100%. I put it in Rome and we were shocked by the many restaurants we’ve tried. They use a lot of fresh ingredients and produce, seasoned, partly perfect (especially if you like to share), and allergens are often explicitly marked.

Prado de Flores

This was our first meal in Barcelona and it certainly would give us the right foot. I crave a tinto de Verano (like citrus spray red wine, like Sangria but not as sweet as it is) and a spanish tortilla. I shared a lot of different things with the girls: chicken skewers, Greek salads, sardines and tortillas. P also has burgers, which is perfect.

Gluten Free Food Tour

I have the whole post about this experience, but we had the opportunity to try six different attractions with plenty of gluten-free options. I never had a croissant filled with GF Nutella, which freed my soul. This is probably the top 10 best foods I’ve ever eaten. Barcelona has so many gluten-free options and dedicated gluten-free kitchens. Our guide tells us that this is one of the best places to travel and live if you suffer from abdominal or gluten sensitivity/intoler tolerance.

Sasha’s Bloome

This is a completely gluten-free brunch spot with pancakes, avocado toast, bowls and pastries using organic and fresh ingredients. If we live in Barcelona, I eat here every week. They have several locations, so if you plan to visit, I definitely recommend checking it out.

Lokal Bar

This is close to our hotel, with great reviews and tortillas on the menu – my mission was to find the best one haha - we went to share a bunch of snacks for the night. The tortillas have truffle oil (Ommggg) and the cheese plate is very delicate.

Roots and volumes

One of the highlights of our trip was seeing my friend Sarah! We used to teach together at Canyon Ranch and remained in touch despite the action around the country. OG Blog Readers Friends will recognize her from our Soli Beat videos, blog workout videos and Summer Shape! She was absolutely amazing – one of the most positive people I know and I love any opportunity we have to catch up.

We met her and her husband to offer amazing vegetarian sushi, gluten-free options, ramen, Thai-Thai. The food was great and the company was the best part.

If you live in Barcelona or visit, she will have the first auxiliary stretch studio in Spain: Stretch Eden.

Barcelona hotel recommendations

We stayed in two different hotels in Barcelona: Royal Ramblas before the cruise and companion Cara after the cruise.

(I have a hotel gym myself)

It’s cute because that’s the girl and myself, so each of us ended up having our own little bed in every place. It is worth mentioning that I almost always use a credit card point to book our hotel for free. We use Amex Platinum for everything and it provides us with a lot of benefits like lounge access, shopping points, points for everyday purchases, points for their quality hotel collections, Uber Credits, I love this thing. If you are interested in getting one, my recommended link is here and I’d love to provide you with any questions! More information on how we use points in this post.

Activity

Barcelona has many different tours and attractions, including the famous Boquat de Mercaria, La Sagrada Familia, a large number of museums and gorgeous beaches. I was tempted to spend my day at the museum, but after the parade, the kids toasted. (I was a little overwhelmed, we missed our Sagrada Familia tour, but we will definitely be back!) We shopped, visited some different markets, and explored the look of the Sagrada Familia,

And entered the White Rabbit Museum, which was a huge blow.

The White Rabbit combines Catalan culture with immersive experiences, including projection rooms, virtual reality, lighting and sculpture. If you have children and are going to Barcelona, I highly recommend that you do so.

Is Barcelona safe?

Our taxi driver warned us about pickpockets and told us which areas to avoid, but I never felt unsafe when we were there. In many parts of the United States, I feel safer than I do, I think anything likes, it’s about your surroundings and staying with other people around you. Stay in a well-lit and densely populated area, know where you are going, and keep your belongings close to you. (I’ve been wearing this handy Amazon bag throughout my trip.)

The goal of this exploration journey we have been doing

I took the tour with the goal of having a great time with the kids, seeing new places and spending some time fully fulfilling after the tough start of 2025. I also started this trip, looking for…a place to live. I feel like I might be more clear with *a perfect place* and Barcelona is the closest to it. It has the big cities we like (large shopping, convenient, gluten-free options and fantastic dining) but comes with smaller, charming neighborhood pockets. We especially like the Grácia community. I don’t know if we’re actually going to get more from Tucson, but we’ve been thinking about different options and keeping our eyes wide open. 🙂

Have you been to Barcelona? What is your favorite place to travel in the summer?

xoxo
