European startup spacecraft entered orbit. Now it’s lost at sea

European companies The flight aims to develop orbital spacecraft for cargo and eventually humans take a step this week, with the flight’s test flight that allows its mission possible vehicles to rise and successfully fly in orbit before entering the Earth’s atmosphere.

But after experiencing “problems,” the exploration company lost contact with the spacecraft a few minutes before the ocean’s touchdown.

In an update to LinkedIn Tuesday morning, the company will feature test flights as partially successful and partially failed.

“The capsule has been successfully launched, and the nominal payload powers the payload in the orbit, stabilizes itself after being separated from the transmitter, re-entered and re-established the communication after black,” the company said in a statement. “We are still investigating the root cause and will share more information as soon as possible. We apologize to all customers who commissioned our payload.”

Maybe a parachute

Reestablishing communications with the spacecraft after the power outage suggests that the vehicle has experienced the most challenging part of the Earth’s atmosphere and may have verified the spacecraft’s handling capacity and ability to withstand maximum heating.

Thereafter, the capsule parachutes will be deployed at a speed of Mach 0.8 to Mach 0.6 based on the timeline of the company’s possible missions. The company said the parachute was selected as its “verified flight legacy” and was sourced from airborne systems in the United States, which offer parachutes used by Spacex’s Dragon, Boeing’s Starliner and other spacecraft.

When the spacecraft is lost, it seems likely that there will be problems with traps or major parachutes.

The Mission could be a 2.5-meter-diameter demonstration vehicle, one of the larger payloads launched Monday afternoon from SpaceX’s Transporter 14 Mission from SpaceX’s Vandenberg Space Force Base. The mission attempts to test four main areas of space flight: structural performance in orbital flight, surviving the real world, automatic navigation and recovery. It only apparently failed in this final mission, recovering the vehicle within three days to return the on-board payload to the customer.

Meet a positive schedule

Within hours of launch, it was refreshing to have a clear and clear communication from a space company, especially acknowledging that the flight was partially malfunctioning. Not surprisingly, a car faces quite rapid technical challenges and is cheaper.

Hélène Huby, the exploration company founder, said in an interview with ARS last November that the mission may have been developed for about $20 million in 2.5 years, and $10 million is added to the Rideshare launch on the Falcon 9 Rocket.

She said the mission was expected to start this summer and the company encountered this timeline.

Given the potential issues with parachute systems or other issues near touchdowns, exploration companies may be conducting another sub-weight representation range mission before developing their full-size NYX cargo spacecraft.
