Tuwaiq Sculpture 2026 launch public call

Riyadh Art has officially launched a public appeal for Tuwaiq sculpture in 2026. Sculptors from all over the world are invited to submit proposals for the 7th Internationally Famous Sculpture Symposium, what is the theme. The edition, held in January 2026 and February 2026, will once again transform Riyadh into a dynamic hub for public art, creativity and cross-cultural exchange.

From August 27 to October 1, 2025, the public telephone invited the submissions of artists interested in participating in the live sculpture experience in Riyadh, and finally it was held in a public exhibition. 25 artists will be selected to produce original works that will be permanently installed in the capital and enrich the city’s expanding public art collection.
Meanwhile, Riyadh Art has announced an international curator for Tuwaiq Sculpture curator for 2026: Sarah Staton of the UK is an artist and director of Space Value Catalyst at the Royal Academy of Art, known for his pioneering work in sculpture; a German-born Rut Luxembourg, the artist, director of Space Value Catalyst and professor of urban aesthetics at the Royal Academy of Art; Saudi Arabian artist Lulwah Al Homoud is a award-winning curator and visual communications expert in Riyadh and a portfolio of global curatorial leadership.

The curator will guide this edition of the art selection process and theme direction, which introduces two engraving categories with the ever-evolving vision of Riyadh art: granite + stainless steel integration and recycled metal. In addition to full travel and accommodation support, selected artists will receive a remuneration.
“Tuwaiq sculpture invites artists from all over the world to leave a lasting mark on Riyadh’s ever-evolving urban landscape,” said Sarah Alruwayti, director of the Tuwaiq Sculpture Symposium, Royal Riyadh City Council. “Each version is built on a growing heritage that connects the community through public art.”

Tuwaiq sculptures have welcomed more than 150 artists since its inception, whose works now constitute a permanent collection of Riyadh art, including 35 works at the Historical Centre of King Abdulaziz. The initiative continues to shape Riyadh’s global identity as a capital for creativity, civic participation and cultural innovation.
