Chase Point Improvement: A Guide to Getting the Most Value

With the right Chase SapphireReserve® (See rates and fees) and a brand new introduction Chase Sapphire Reserve for Business- (See rates and fees) Recently, a lot has happened in the world of Chase credit cards.

In this avalanche of change, Chase announces important changes to you cash in on Chase Chase Ultimate Rewards points. Chase has long been known for its valuable redemption of Chase Ultimate Rewards points (from 1.25 cents to 1.5 cents) through ChaseTravel℠, but issuers are phasing out this unique offer to support the new feature: Point boost. This revitalization now allows qualified cardholders to redeem 2 cents per point based on cards and redemption.

But is this a positive change or a negative change? Now, the new benefit is real-time, let’s compare these options to see which option offers more value.

Benefits of being ruled: Fixed exchange value

Chase is deleting the ability to offer 25% to 50% bonus redemption points to cardholders on featured premium cards. As the new standard, all cards will be offered 1 cent per point for eligible purchases through Chase Travel.

But while this is a major negative development, this change will gradually occur among existing cardholders. If you are an existing cardholder whose account is open before June 23, the points you earned by October 26 this year can still be redeemed at the current interest rate until October 26, 2027.

Instead, unless the purchase qualifies for a new point revitalization, points earned from a new account opened on June 23 can only be redeemed for 1 cent.

Here is one of the things about how changes affect existing and new cardholders:

card Existing cardholders (applied by June 23) New cardholders (applied on or after June 23)
Sapphire Conservation Area

Commercial sapphire reserves

Selected hotels and flights, up to 2 cents per point

All other Chase Travel purchased 1.5 cents (points obtained by October 26, 2025 and redeemed to October 26, 2027, then 1% later)

Selected hotels and flights, up to 2 cents per point

Other qualified purchases of 1 cent

Chase SapphirePreferred® Card (see Rates and Fees)

Ink BusinessPreferred® Credit Card (see Rates and Fees)

Selected hotel points can increase up to 1.5 cents per point and 1.75 cents on airline flights

All other Chase Travel purchased 1.25 cents (points obtained by October 26, 2025 and redeemed to October 26, 2027 and then redeemed to 1 cent)

Selected hotel points can increase up to 1.5 cents per point and 1.75 cents on airline flights

Other qualified purchases of 1 cent

Remember that if you have a cash chase card, you can combine points into one account.

New Benefits: Points Improvement

Alternative benefits (called point boosts) now live for new and existing cardholders. This privilege replaces the 25% to 50% bonus with Chase Travel Redement; however, for existing cardholders applying before June 23, they will be automatically redeemed at a higher rate (fixed redemption value or point boost) until October 26, 2027.

As points increase, cardholders will receive over 1% of each point in the selected Chase Travel Redemption. With points boost, you can choose based on your card by redemption points of 1.5-2 cents.

Compared to TPG’s June 2025 Chase points valuation of 2.05 cents, the new redemption value range from points improvement may be disappointing. It would be great if you were able to get a point boost for 2 cents per point; otherwise, if your purchase price is less than 1.5 cents per point, it would represent a poor value.

As an overview, here are the types of points boost rates for different purchases and qualified cards through the chase trip:

Hotel reservation

Log in to the Chase Travel portal and search for hotels as usual.

Chase Travel

From the looks of it, all editors booked at Chase Travel Hotel are eligible for a higher redemption of 2 cents per point. As Sapphire Conservation Area Cardholder, I can get 2 cents on most luxury hotel reservations.

Chase Travel Portal also has a useful filter titled “Point-only Enhancement”, which makes searching for qualified hotels much easier. If you decide to scroll through the results instead of filtering them, a point boost that qualifies the booking will also represent a small rocket ship.

For example, during the entire stay, four seasons in Park Lane, four seasons London Hotel for three nights or 206,216 o’clock.

Chase Travel

On the checkout page, you can enter how many points you want to redeem. Interestingly, the page shows that the redemption to be redeemed is an increase in points, so 100,000 points can bring you $2,000 in value. It also points out how many points I want to save; in this case, 33,333 points.

This shows the difference between the points lift points, if I were to redeem these points with a typical value of 1.5 cents as a sapphire reserve cardholder.

Buy

Booking flights with Chase Travel and using points to improve requires more work. Not all airlines, service categories and flights are eligible for points, and we hope that this list will change from time to time.

Currently, the list of qualified airlines for qualified airlines includes:

  • Air Canada
  • UAE
  • Eva Airlines
  • Qantas
  • Singapore Airlines
  • United Airlines

I showed me a variety of transport tools when looking for flights between Los Angeles and New York, but Manchester United is the only qualified airline when filtering only point points promotes eligible flights. In addition, not all flights and service categories at Manchester United are eligible.

Chase Travel

For example, starting at 9 p.m. in New York does not have points to promote economic or economic options; on the contrary, only advanced economies are eligible. The flight’s premium economy cost was $1,238, and the points increased by 70,741 points, equivalent to 1.75 cents per point, which is greater than the 1.5 cents per point that the sapphire reserves have provided in the past.

Please note that when exploring the premium cabin, if there is a reward seat, the point can be raised or may not provide the best value.

For example, this one-way flight from San Francisco to Taipei, Taiwan will cost $3,434 in cash or 171,700 points, while the points will be increased. You can redeemed the portion of the ticket at a rate of 2 cents per point.

Chase Travel

However, when using Chase’s transfer partner, you can get better deals than point boosts. If you choose to transfer points to a partner, in this case for Air Canada, you can book a ticket for 100,000 points with minimal taxes and fees. This saves you over 70,000 points compared to scores. The value of each point is 3.4 cents, which is much higher than TPG’s June 2025 valuation of chase points, which is 2 cents higher.

Air Canada

If you need to fly and there is no reward availability, points boost is a good option as you can distribute payments between points and cash. However, it is worth looking for reward availability to compare your options.

Are the points worth it?

If you are Sapphire Conservation Area or Commercial sapphire reserves Cardholder, you can get up to 2 cents per point on editing hotel and premium cabin tickets, which is shy with our June 2025 Chase Points valuation at 2.05 cents respectively. I’m going to say that the point of improving redemption is worth premium cabin tickets (if there is no reward) and edit bookings. Otherwise, this is not a good use.

Unfortunately, the points increase makes it weaker Sapphire prefers and Ink business priority cardholder. For hotels, you get up to 1.5 cents per point, so there is some value beyond the top 25% bonus on Chase travel purchases. But when it comes to buying air tickets, it’s hit or missed. Because not all airlines are eligible, this is a huge drawback compared to the card’s previous benefits, which are applicable to any airline.

Hopes to get the most value from points enhance redemptions do not enhance consumers’ abilities. You are essentially at Chase’s Will, which determines which hotel, airline, flight and cabin can bring you the most value. Also, booking directly instead of through an online travel agency has the advantage.

Remember that booking through Chase travel can be more expensive than using an airline or hotel directly, so if you raise your points to it, you can figure out whether the higher fares that may be made sense by chasing your trip.

Bottom line

Chase made a significant change in how to redeem the final reward points, reducing the bonus 25% to 50% of the Chase Travel Redemption for new cardholders. Fortunately, issuers have decided to phase out existing cardholders’ earnings (cards opened before June 23) until October 26, 2027, when they won’t be able to get redemption options with more value (for points earned before October 26, 2025).

It’s nice to see the points roll out at the same time as the previous allowance, as it gives the existing one Sapphire Conservation Area,,,,, Sapphire prefers and Ink business priority Cardholders can choose to redeem points in any way.

After October 26, 2027, the fixed redemption rate will be completely eliminated, and anyone is speculating how important the valuable points will be at that time – it can improve or maintain limits. Currently, existing cardholders need to weigh this is the best option, while new cardholders should raise their points to transfer points to partners to determine how to maximize their hard-earned points.
