Dash’s portable fast cold beer equipment is one of many competitors who use pressure or agitation to speed up the classic, slow, multi-hour process to create smooth, fresh cold beer coffee. In the case of others failing, I have little confidence that the dash will succeed.
However, we are here: This really weird little device makes the 15-minute cold beer shocking. There are many parts that can only be made into a drinking glass. But the results are admirably smooth, low in acidity, and do not torture the bitter taste of the fastest cold brew of tannins. Basically, you put 8 to 12 ounces of water in the reservoir, fill in a small filter that falls into the device, and then install an extra tube and a rechargeable vacuum device that buzzes like a vibrator. Brew2Go will then create a vacuum cleaner to release it over and over again to resemble the principles of the Vacone Air Brewer Wired a few years ago. You will see this visually when the liquid is sucked and then released back into the carafe. Watching is crazy.
If you stick with 8 ounces of water, you can quickly cool the water from the room temperature with ice and then still have about 10 ounces of drinking intensity cold beer. The result is a bit cloudy: some coffee is fined through the filter. But if you drink immediately, this is not a problem. It’s gentle and quite pleasant – not as subtle or aromatic as it takes 12 hours, but as good as most packaged cold beers.
