Surprisingly, the base configuration has 12 GB of RAM. This isn’t as high as the 16 GB you get in Snapdragon X-powered Windows laptops like the upcoming HP Omnibook 5 16, but for Chromeos, that’s enough. Meanwhile, the base configuration comes with 128 GB of storage, and the upgraded model has a solid-state drive of 256 GB.
The performance is solid. The speedometer is a benchmark for testing performance in a browser, which is important for Chromeos because they are all built around the Chrome browser. The Lenovo Chromebook Plus 14 is three times faster than the Celeron N4500 tested by the Asus Chromebook CX15, about half the speed of the Apple M4 in the MacBook Air. I’ve also tested several heavier Android games Diablo: Immortal and PUBG mobile phoneperforms well in the settings. It’s not surprising, but it shows that the chip can handle almost anything you throw. Like most arm-powered laptops, the Chromebook Plus 14 is as fast on the battery as it is when plugged in.
Google and Lenovo are also touting the device’s AI capabilities, as Mediatek Chip is able to perform 50 trillion operations per second (TOPS), a standard that nearly all its Windows and Mac competitors meet. So, Chromebook Plus 14 has some exclusive AI Device AI features you won’t find in other Chromebooks. The most useful is smart grouping, which recognizes the various applications and tabs you open and intelligently groups them into separate desktops. This is very convenient. For me, it’s not too interesting to me to insert material quickly, which allows you to easily access AI-generated images. Apart from that, it also has a choice of all the AI features that come with Chromebooks and laptops, like the help of where I left.
The efficiency of the Kompanio Ultra 910 is also bright during battery life tests. Its battery has 60 watts, resulting in some impressive runtime. Lenovo and Google claim this is the longest Chromebook ever, and it’s the best Chromebook I’ve tested, lasting 16 hours in the video playback test. It may not last until the MacBook Air M4 or a laptop like the Asus Zenbook S 16, which is powered by Intel’s latest Core Ultra Series 2 chip, but it’s on the court. This is important because Chromebooks are known for their battery life before the recent surge in arm-powered laptops like modern MacBooks. This is largely due to the way the lightweight chrome sheets run. It’s great to see Chromebook playback again.

The Chromebook Plus 14 has another trick on its sleeve. Unlike the Janky speakers in almost every Chromebook, this Lenovo has a QuadSleaker setup and is the first to use Dolby Atmos. These are unexpected speakers –almost As good as the audio from the 13-inch MacBook Air, it offers a comprehensive sound and even has a bass tip. They are the best speakers on laptops at that price.
Many of my views are covered up against the backdrop of prices, and there is a reason. The Lenovo Chromebook Plus 14 costs $650 to add RAM and storage (and add a touch screen) for $100, which is reaching the price that Windows laptops struggle to solve. There are competitors, but the Chromebook Plus 14 provides a reason for Chromebooks at this price, offering several features and overall build quality that you won’t find among your competitors. If you’re willing to embrace Chromeos, this is just the best the ecosystem can offer.
