Delta withdraws 2 new flights before launch, adding 4 routes

Delta Air Lines is making some notable updates to its network.
First, the Atlanta-based airline has made two major adjustments in New York City, and in New York City it has backed up on its two latest routes even before it even launched.
Delta no longer plans to fly from John Kennedy International Airport (JFK) to Memphis International Airport (MEM) and St. Louis Lambert International Airport (STL) in the winter, as first appeared in the Cirium program, later first seen in Carsium Shige and later confirmed by an operator spokesperson.
Bargain: When is the best time to book the cheapest flights?
Delta first announced the new routes in May as part of a wider expansion that includes services from Kennedy International Airport to George Bush InterContinental Airport (IAH) in Houston and nearby LaGuardia Airport (LGA) to Northwest Florida Beach International Airport (ECP) in Panama, Florida.
Airlines do not usually undergo significant frequency and seasonal changes before new routes take off, so demand in both markets does not seem as hot as Delta expects.
The good news is that during the winter, the Delta has identified alternatives to one of the routes. The airline has proposed plans to start daily flights from Sarasota Brandon International Airport (SRQ), Florida from December 20, 2025 to May 6, 2026, as first appeared in the Cirium program.
This new flight initially only operates during the Christmas and New Year holidays, but now it will fly throughout the winter. Delta Connect Member Republic Airlines will operate flights.
Elsewhere, the Delta will add three other new routes:

All of these routes replace December 20, 2025 and will operate throughout the winter. Fargo’s services will operate daily and join Delta’s existing flights to North Dakota through its MSP’s hub.
Meanwhile, flights from Austin will operate daily until April 12, 2026. Finally, the new services from Minneapolis to Vail will be operated daily from December 20, 2025 to January 5, 2026, Darr University’s original plan, and weekly weekly, from January 10, 2026 to March 28, 2026, 2026, basically covering Ski Siless of Ski Silles in 2026, 2026, 2026, 2026, 2026, 2026, and 2026.
Of all these network tweaks, perhaps the most interesting one is the one that doesn’t touch the hub: Austin to San Jose del Capo, Mexico.
Although Delta has no hub for operations in Austin, the Texas capital has been the focus of the Delta for years, and that growth will not drop anytime soon.
In a recent interview with TPG, Delta Networks head Paul Baldoni said: “We are approaching 80 departures every day. [along with our partners]. When we get close to 120 departures a day or so, whether we call Austin or not, you start to build some of the connections that exist in the so-called hub. ”
The Delta is focused primarily on adding uninterrupted connectivity to locals in Austin, and while this will continue to be the main focus, airlines will add more connection itineraries through the city as a by-product of all their expansion.
“We haven’t really arrived yet and we want to continue building Austin for local customers, but the natural result will be connect traffic,” Bardoni said.
The airline may be a little short of what it is to call Austin a hub, and with this latest move, the operator appears to be one step closer.
