Delta to end flights to Geneva in October

Delta Airlines will end service to Geneva as the loss of transatlantic travel demand slows.
Atlanta-based Aerial Alliance Airlines will end its three-year service on October 20 from Geneva Airport (GVA) to New York’s John Kennedy International Airport (JFK).
A Delta spokesman said the decision was to “better align with consumer needs.”

Delta exports from Geneva, the European diplomatic center and gateway to the Alps, as transatlantic travel patterns change.
Delta Air Lines president Glen Hauenstein said in early September that the airline was “somewhat disappointed with the transatlantic results”, especially in summer economy-grade flyers.
The latest data from the U.S. International Trade Administration shows that the number of Western Europeans arriving in the United States by air has dropped by nearly 2% compared to May to August. Switzerland’s decline was considerably greater, down more than 9%.
While the number of Europeans on holiday in the United States may drop, Americans are making up for the slackness of many transatlantic routes. There is a lot of demand for destinations in Southern Europe, and airlines are eager to add new flights.
American Airlines will add services to Athens, Greece, Greece, Greece, Portugal, Malta, Porto and Sardinia in Italy next summer. United Airlines has added places from Bilbao, Spain to Palermo, Italy in the past few summers.

European airlines like Spain Iberia have seen strong travel numbers on the North Atlantic and are eager to increase flights. Orlando International Airport (MCO) joined the map of Iberia in October, Philadelphia International Airport (PHL) next spring.
However, the growth of the trans Atlantic Ocean began to slow down from the days of revenge travel after the pandemic in 19009. After a 5.5% increase in 2024, airline seats between the U.S. and Europe will only grow by 2.6% this year, and nearly 19% in 2023.
“Growth is normal,” said Jens Fehlinger, CEO of Swiss International, in a recent interview.
Switzerland added its first new US destination in more than a decade last year – Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD), and now focuses on getting this mature and transitioning to the new Airbus A350s that began to arrive in October.
For Delta passengers who still need to reach the GVA, the airline’s partners, including Air France, KLM and SAS Scandinavian Airlines, can provide flights to the airport through its European hub.
Cirium Shigeets shows that Swiss people offer daily uninterrupted GVA from New York, while United Airlines offers the same words as Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR).
