The fastest in-flight internet access for aviation WiFi speed test

Since 2006, airlines have provided some form of in-flight WiFi. WiFi in the air is not always smooth – but some airlines are better than others.

According to Ookla’s analysis, Hawaiian Airlines and Qatar Airlines are the best performing airlines in terms of on-flight WiFi.

For the airlines leading the game, Starlink’s low-Earth Orbit satellite constellations drive high performance. Both Hawaiian Airlines and Qatar Airlines use satellite services to provide their WiFi connections, which helps faster downloads and upload speeds and latency.

Other airlines that offer high-quality connectivity include Spirit Airlines, Air Canada, Delta Airlines, Breeze Airlines, American Airlines and Airlines Mexico. These airlines offer better 10th percentile download speeds (more than per second) and median download speeds than other airlines.

Globally, airlines are working to improve WiFi speed and quality. More and more airlines are aligning with Stars, including United Airlines and SAS, which will work with companies to enhance “gate-to-door” connections by the end of this year.
