My wife and I used to be in a comedy club, and the comedian once saw me in his performance and said, “Hey, boss, what should you do?” And you know, even if I teach people how to communicate, I will grop my answers. My wife growled and said hysterically, “You teach people how to do it? Do you hear yourself?”
The short version I want to get is: Be prepared in any situation to enable people to quickly market who they are and what you do. You can use the format: “People hired me [fill in the blank] Because I [fill in the blank]. ” After a few seconds, not a monologue like you are doing a small village, but in a few sentences you can answer this question.
Like I usually do: “People don’t hire my job coaches and career advice globally because I make the process of finding a job and being more successful.” 10-15 seconds, maybe. Maybe you can do that, too.
