For several years, Bose and Sony have been trading hits, becoming the best noise-selling headphones on the market. Until recently, Bose’s Quietcomfort Ultra (9/10, Wired Recommended) dominated Supreme, giving me the best noise I heard in 14 years of professional audio review.

It was a close fight, but after putting the two headphone models in the front, I found that Sony’s latest model in the 1000x series is a pair of Bose, which is more responsive thanks to lightning-fast handling. This alone changes the most in terms of attacking everyday annoyances, including addressing sudden loud noises in noise and transparency modes.

Both headphones are very quiet, almost eliminating lower drone sounds, reducing higher frequency noises such as key clicks, and even erasing perforated sounds, barking with a little music like a dog. Just turn on ANC and adjust the world.

Of course, Sony’s latest headphones have more sound quality, titled “Press Buy” button. The sound is very easy to obtain, revealing impressive nuances and clarity in instrumental texture while keeping things smooth and refined throughout the frequency. The bass is bold and complete, without the prosperity shown by some early Sony models. Honestly, it’s a treat whenever I listen to these jars, and it’s over the still-selling WH-1000XM5 of Prime Day (9/10, wired recommendation).

They are also full of features, including a host of setup options in the Sony app, and features such as placing your hand on the right ear cabinet to temporarily remove the noise from transparency mode, perfect for ordering drinks on long flights. Speaking of touch controls, Sony has designed the best in the business, providing intuitive sliding for volume and song beats, and providing responsive taps for basic playback and calls.

Call quality is another pure WH-1000XM6 feature, and both sides of the call can be clear even in a bustling environment. Put everything together and you’ve tested the best noise cancelling headphones.
