Buy Air Canada’s Aeroplan point by July 17 with up to 100% bonus

Aeroplan members, check your account because it seems like Air Canada’s loyalty program is in progress for Flash Sale over the next few days, which may save you money on your next flight.
How does sales work, is it worth it? Let’s take a look.
Flash Sale by Aeroplan
From now until July 17, Aeroplan’s Flash Sale will offer a 100% bonus on purchase points.
The promotion may be targeted, so some members may see different offers. Based on the few points you purchased, we see the layered bonus:
- 5,000 to 29,000 points: 55% bonus
- 30,000 to 79,000 points: 75% bonus
- 80,000 to 500,000 points: 100% bonus
Aeroplan usually limits purchases to 250,000 points per transaction (before the bonus), but this sale can be up to 500,000 points. So, in theory, you can get a total of one million points in this deal, although that will cost nearly $14,000.
The maximum 100% bonus is essentially a half-cut cost per point, bringing it to about 1.88 cents (1.37 US cents). It is worth noting that if you pay with a U.S. credit card and U.S. billing address, there is no need to pay sales tax.
The sale ends on July 17, so you only have a few days to think about your travel plans and determine if the purchase point makes sense. To purchase an Aeroplan point, go to this page and log in to your account.
Should I buy Aeroplan?
The 100% bonus reduces the purchase price to 1.4 cents per Aeroplan point, which happens to be TPG’s July 2025 valuation, making it a reliable deal. However, since points and mileage are not a huge long-term investment, we do not recommend buying points just for storing points.

If you have Aeroplan redemption and don’t have enough points to book, it’s best to choose a purchase point. Or, if you plan to buy a cash ticket, you can save money with this transaction.
For example, this flight from Denver International Airport (DEN) to Munich Airport (MUC) is only priced at 70,000 Aeroplan points and CA 78 $78 ($57) in Business Class.

In this flash sale, you can buy a total of 70,000 points (40,000 points, 75% bonus) for $1,120. If you pay in cash, the same flight will get you back more than $7,000.
Which credit card should I use to purchase Aeroplan points?
Like most point purchases, the transaction will not be coded as a travel because it will be processed via Points.com instead of Air Canada. So if you pay with a card that earns extra points on a trip or air ticket, you won’t get a reward.
Instead, we recommend using one of the best cards for daily spending. And, since purchases will be charged in Canadian dollars, be sure to use a card that does not charge foreign transaction fees.
Bottom line
Promotion at a buying point is not always a good choice, but it is worth considering. Despite the transformation of the plan to some dynamic pricing of redemption, Aeroplan still has some valuable desserts. Do the math work to see if the point you need to buy the next redemption makes sense and buy it by July 17 to take advantage of the sale.
