The World of Hyatt Credit Cards: Complete Details

The World of Hyatt Credit Cards Overview

With rewarded loyalty programs and generous card benefits, the world of Hyatt Credit Cards (see Fees & Fees) is one of the most important hotel cards on the market. Cardholders earn 4 points per dollar on all Hyatt expenses, and you get a category 1-4 free night reward every year, which you keep when you spend $15,000 in a calendar year. Hyatt points are the most valuable hotel points, and the free night starts at just 3500 points. Card rating*: ⭐⭐⭐

Thanks to its solid redemption possibilities and elite interests, Hyatt World is one of our favorite loyalty programs on TPG.

The world of Hyatt Credit Cards doesn’t have more heavy benefits that premium hotel cards can find, but its privileges are valuable enough to easily prove a modest $95 annual fee.

The card’s recommended credit score is above 670.

But should it get a place in your wallet? Let’s dig into the details below.

Hyatt Card’s World currently offers new cardholders the ability to earn two free nights at Hyatt Hotels in Class 1-4, after purchasing $4,000 from account opening in the previous three months. In addition, $12,000 was spent in the first six months of opening an account, earning 25,000 bonus points. This offer lasts until August 28.

TPG’s July 2025 valuation PEG Hyatt score was 1.7 cents, bringing the report to a value of up to $1,037.

This offer is a little better than the regular bonus on the card, but it is not the highest bonus we’ve seen.

As always, be aware of the limitations: If you have received welcome bonuses on Hyatt Cards in the last 24 months, you will not be eligible to earn these bonuses. And since this is a chase card, it complies with the infamous 5/24 rule. You need to make sure you are eligible for the card and its bonus before applying.

The world of Hyatt credit card benefits

The world of Hyatt Credit Cards comes with some famous privileges:

Free night certificate for the year

The best sustained benefits for Hyatt Cards in the world are the annual free night certificate for Hyatt hotels in categories 1-4, and you will receive anniversaries for each account. You will also get a second free night after spending $15,000 in a calendar year.

At home and abroad, you can get some incredible value from this certificate. Here is what TPG senior editorial director Nick Ewen said about this treatment:

I love earning 1-4 certificates in my Hyatt credit card world. There are many good choices for this award level as I use it to stay in Hyatt as Fort Lauderdale and Andaz Savannah. However, I often want to use them in high demand events. For example, at the 2023 Taylor Swift concert, I booked The Grand Hyatt Tampa Bay, at the time when it was over $900, and my most recent redemption was at a football weekend in Gainesville, Florida, and we avoided paying for more than $700.

Regardless of your destination, your free nighttime certificate can provide enough value to justify the $95 annual fee.

Elite identity

You can get auto-discoverer status with just using the card, which includes a 10% bonus on late checkout, preferred rooms and qualified purchases. Late checkout revitalization is priceless for travelers with evening flights who want to be fresh in advance.

Apart from that, you receive five elite nights each year, and then you can earn extra nights by spending – every $5,000 spent on the card. In other words, by holding the card and spending $15,000 a year to grab the second category 1-4 certificate, you will get 11 nights of credit, or nearly 20% of Hyatt Globalist status.

Travel protection

Chase issues Hyatt Cards World, so you will receive many travel protections we receive from Chase Credit Cards, including:

  • Luggage Delay Insurance: Pay you back essential purchases such as toiletries and clothing for $100 a day for five days in six hours.
  • Reimbursement of lost luggage: If you or a direct family member’s inspection or carry-on luggage is damaged or lost by the carrier, you can pay up to $3,000 per passenger.
  • Travel interruptions and travel cancellation insurance: If your trip is cancelled or shortened due to illness, bad weather and other possible circumstances, you can repay up to $5,000 per person and a prepayment of $10,000 per trip, non-refundable travel costs including passenger fares, tours and hotels.
  • Automatic rental collision damage exemption: Provides coverage for most car theft and collision damage in the United States and abroad. In the United States, coverage is the secondary scope of your personal insurance.

Again, this benefit list isn’t as extensive as other quality hotel cards, but it’s worth a lot more than the $95 annual fee for this card.

Win points in the Hyatt Credit Card World

Cardholders will earn 4 points per dollar on all Hyatt hotel purchases, 2 points per dollar purchased at restaurants and direct airfares, local transportation and commuting (including rides) and gym membership purchases, and 1 point per dollar spent.

Every 4 points spent on Hyatt is more than any other card can earn, and it’s worth noting that you’ll earn an extra 5 points on Hyatt’s purchases in the Hyatt program, which makes this category particularly profitable. Plus, this is one of the few cards to earn bonus points only on gym membership purchases.

Nevertheless, it is best to use the Chase SapphirePreferred® card (see Rates and Fees) for dining and general travel, or your direct flight and hotel purchase. You will receive more bonus points to transfer to Hyatt Hotels or Chase’s 14 other airline and hotel partners.

The redemption point of Hyatt credit card industry

By far, the best use of Hyatt Point is for reward nights. The redemption point for standard rooms to Class 1 properties is 3,500 points on non-peak nights, and the peak date at Class 8 properties is as high as 45,000 points.

TPG credit card writer Chris Nelson earned excellent value for just 12,000 points on his busy summer weekend in Riddargatan, Stockholm.

You can also choose to book points and cash rewards and pay half the normal point price, while half the standard cash rate.

In addition, you can use points to upgrade to pay. Free night redemption points are often a better deal, but upgrading paid accommodations can be worth it and won’t go bankrupt on your points reserve.

You can also transfer points to multiple airline partners, but the transfer ratio is 2.5:1, which is not ideal. Hyatt Regency also allows you to redeem points for dining, spa access and other experiences, but points for using hotel rooms are almost always better.

Bottom line

The world of Hyatt Cards is a must-have for Hyatt loyalists. This is the only personal co-brand credit card currently accepted by the hotel chain, and the only one that can help you get elite status in the Hyatt program.

You may get enough value from the card to make an annual fee worth $95 worth. And since the card is a visa without foreign transaction fees, there will be no problem using it worldwide.

However, if you stay in a property with another hotel brand more often or want a more flexible reward, you may want to use another card.
