Live now: Alaska Airlines’ companion fares are available for Hawaiian Airlines flights, and more benefits
For those who love traveling with friends or family, we have good news: There are more ways to book flights from $99 (plus taxes and fees) to Hawaii and beyond.
For those who love the airline loyalty program, this is one of the biggest storylines of 2025, which could be the stipends and miles associated with Alaska Airlines’ Hawaiianmiles acquisition of Alaska Airlines’ Hawaiianmiles.
We’ve seen some mutual benefits rollouts, such as new check bags for each airline co-brand cardholder, milestone rewards for free upgrades and milestone rewards to earn elite members of the Mileage Program – but another very exciting benefit of the merged program is being used on site and available.
Companion fares in Alaska (you can pass Alaska Airlines Signed Credit Card and Alaska Airlines Visa® Business Card) It is also now valid on Hawaiian Airlines flights in North America.

Redemption of companion fares for Alaska on a Hawaii flight
Alaska Airlines Mileage Program members are now able to use their Alaska Airlines accompanying fare certificates on any Hawaiian flight in North America, just like you already have on a flight running on Alaska Airlines.
The notable companion fare allows you to take a travel companion to or from Alaska Airlines or Hawaiian Airlines for just $99 (plus $23 in taxes and fees). Please note that the certificate is only valid for coach trips; however, companion fares are eligible for upgrades.
You can get companion fares for each account anniversary Alaska Airlines Signed Credit Card and Alaska Airlines Visa Card After your purchase cost of $6,000 for the previous anniversary year.

Although companion fares were previously limited to flights operated by Alaska Airlines, cardholders can now also use their certificates on flights operated by Hawaiian Airlines in North America due to the merger. Here are some round trip flights from Las Vegas to Honolulu that you can now book on Hawaiian Airlines using these Alaska Airlines certificates:
You can also use this certificate to mix and match flights running on one itinerary between Hawaii and Alaska on one itinerary. For example, the following are two carrier options from Austin to San Francisco to Honolulu: The first part is in Alaska, but flights to Hawaii International Airport (SFO) are operated by Hawaiian Airlines.
The Hawaiians’ unique network of routes and widebody fleet, including its new Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft, direct aisle access with Lie-Flat seats and Leihoku Premium classes, may open various ways to maximize the interests of Alaska or Hawaiians, especially since these partners are eligible for superior rewards.

Alaska Airlines announces more loyalty program benefits
While we continue to wait for some important details about what the Alaska combination and Hawaii loyalty program look like, other privileges already exist.
Alaska Airlines and Hawaiian Airlines cardholders get free check bags
Alaska Airlines Signature and Alaska Airlines Visa Business Cardholders will now receive a free check bag for themselves when booking flights operated by Hawaiian Airlines using a shared credit card and receive up to six guests in the same booking.
If you are a Hawaiian Airlines® World Elite Mastercard® holder, you will receive two free check bags when using a card to book flights operated by Alaska Airlines; however, this benefit only applies to the main card members.

Expand seat selection options for Alaska elite members
Alaska Airlines Mileage Program MVP Gold 75K and MVP Gold 100K Elite members can choose a free extra comfortable seat when booking Hawaiian Airlines’ main cabin fare.
Currently available on Airbus A330 and A321NEO and Boeing 717 and 787 aircraft in Hawaii, the additional comfortable seats provide additional legroom, early boarding, priority safety screening, power on seats in certain airports, personal seats, and amenities packages available for selection on select international flights.

New milestone for elite revitalization
As announced in October 2024, Alaska Airlines Mileage Program members can now pick from the Milestone Privileges menu, who meet the following thresholds for Elite Qualifications:
- 10,000
- 30,000 equations
- 55,000 equations
- Type 85,000
- 150,000 equations
- Level 200,000
- 250,000 equations
Privileges for each milestone are different, but include benefits such as bonus miles, upgrade certificates, Wi-Fi passes, giveaway MVP status, lounge passes, and the ability to scroll on EQM.
Bottom line
So far, the ongoing integration between Alaska Airlines and Hawaiian Airlines is very good for members of both airlines’ loyalty programs. The new luggage benefits are a benefit to encourage Alaska Airlines co-brand cardholders to book with Hawaiians and vice versa, while Alaska Airlines’ mileage program continues to improve and expand benefits for elite members.
