Start spreading news: Chanel returned to the New York runway for the first time in seven years.

The French fashion house will be designed on December 2 on December 2 by Matthieu Blazy. The exact location will be disclosed later. Chanel highlights its historic connection to the United States, which dates back to founder Gabrielle “Coco” Chanel’s first trip across the Atlantic Ocean in the 1930s.

“I’m glad Matthieu Blazy chose New York for his first Métiers D’ArtShow,” Chanel Sas President and President Bruno Pavlovsky said in a statement. “He will make the creativity of the city he knows resonate well with the outstanding Savoir-Faire of the House.”

From 2016 to 2019, Blazy was part of the Calvin Klein team brought to New York by Raf Simons as the men’s and women’s collections, as design director.

He will make his official debut for Chanel at a spring ready-to-wear show in Paris in October, marking the end of an unusually long handover period after Virginie Viard’s departure last year.

Former creative director Karl Lagerfeld held the Paris-New York art show at the Paris-New York art exhibition in December 2018, two months before his death. The series is on display in front of the Dendur Temple and draws inspiration from ancient Egypt.

“This is Carl’s last show, so when we talk about it internally, we’re always a little nostalgic. But, returning to New York with Matthieu, the start of the new season is very exciting.”

“He is very passionate about showing in New York. It’s a city he is familiar with, his life and work,” the executive added. “New York has always been a bold choice because it is one of our most important cities in terms of image and business. Everyone is filled with surprises after Matthieu arrived in New York.”

Meanwhile, Chanel released the first visual trailer for Blazy’s Tenure: a vintage New York subway map with a double C logo overlay.

The brand introduces the Métiers D’Art series, which is timed in the autumn season, in the distant cities of Tokyo. New York; Rome; Edinburgh, Scotland; Salzburg, Austria and Dallas. In the past three editions, it explores off-the-scenes cities through its performances in Hangzhou, China. Manchester, England; and Dakar, Senegal.

Métiers D’Art Collections celebrates Chanel’s ability to professional Ateliers Chanel. Now some of them are grouped into LE9M, a striking building designed by architect Rudy Ricciotti, located near Porte d’Aubervilliers, a working-class area north of Paris.

LE19M brings together embroidery and tweed maker Lesage, its embroidery school and Lesage Intrieurs; embroidery workshop Montex and its decorative department MTX; shoemaker Massaro; feather maker and peanut lemarié; Milliner Maison Michel; pleasant lognon; Grand Flou Atelier Paloma and Goldsmith Goossens.
