How to limit Galaxy AI to device processing, or turn it off altogether

Samsung says all Galaxy AI data is firmly encrypted and protected from eye-wrenching, although of course there is no guarantee that any security protection is always fully 100% effective at all times. You can find the full Samsung Privacy Policy online.
How to Turn Galaxy AI Features on or off
Maybe you’re not sure to allow Galaxy AI to access everything you’re writing and editing, or you just find the capabilities of AI a little too picky. On a Galaxy smartphone, you can choose to turn off some or all of these features.
To view the currently active AI features, open Settings and select Galaxy AI. You’ll get a complete list of what AI can do on a Samsung phone, and it’s probably more comprehensive than you realize: from transcribing voice recordings to providing personalized insights to your fitness data.
Click on any of these Galaxy AI features to make changes. The exact options you see will depend on that feature, some of which come with sub-functions, but they all come with switches to turn the tool on or off. You can also get a description of how to manage your data.
choose Photo Assistancefor example, three tools are listed: Generate Edit (Use AI to delete and move objects in images), Sketch to image (Used to turn the basic outline into a photo) and Portrait Studio (Turn photos of people into cartoons and sketches). Use the toggle switch on or off all these features.
How to enable device processing
Turn on Galaxy AI from the settings on your Samsung Galaxy S25 phone and you will see a Process data only on the device Toggle switch at the bottom of the AI function list. These phones have an elite chipset of Snapdragon 8 inside, with powerful enough AI processing to take care of certain jobs without having to transfer data to the cloud.
That’s some jobs, not all jobs. You will find that when you flick the switch for operation, some functions will no longer be available. Samsung does not provide a deterministic list of what features can be used without the cloud, but automatic summary and generation of AI edits require internet access.
