Skechers introduces children’s sneakers with built-in Airtag compartment

Earlier this month, Skechers announced the discovery of my Skechers, a new line of kids sneakers with a hidden Apple Airtags compartment. The Airtag is placed in a circular slot under the insole, which Skechers says kids won’t be able to feel.
Some parents have used Apple Airtag to track their children’s location, turning to Amazon to buy Airtag holders, where you can attach clothes to clothes, laces, or wear them around your wrists. However, I haven’t seen a large company launching products that previously fit this trend.
Interestingly, while the Skechers website and announcement Instagram post says the product is designed to make it easy for you to find your kids. shoethe company’s promotional videos specifically discuss using shoes to track your Children. “Every pair has a safe, hidden pocket under the insole that fits perfectly under Apple Airtag, so you can always know Where is their favorite shoes. ” (Added emphasis.)

But this mobile YouTube video from the Skechers YouTube page is more straightforward: “Mom and Dad, now you can know Where is your child always In Skecher’s latest Apple Airtag compatible sneakers. This is a genius. There is a clever, secure, hidden compartment under the insole. Your child can’t feel it, you can see where your child is on the app that finds me. ” (Added emphasis.)
In the video, a cheering actress also said, “Look, we all know that Skechers are known for their comfort, and now they give us a comfortable mindset when they are kids.” However, in the non-mobile version of the ad, the actress reads the same script, only she added the word “shoes” to lines like “You can see where your kids’ shoes are.” This is a small but significant difference. Mashable contacted Skechers for clarification and we will update this article if the company responds.
Anyway, the new sneakers are now available for sale on the Skechers website in boys and girls sizes. The shoes cost between $52 and $58.
Tracking shoes at the location of a child may be a godsend for parents who are nervous about losing their child’s traces in crowded places, but similar products have also caused potential privacy concerns. Apple has taken steps to make Airtag more private in recent years.
