The best employees are often rewarded for their excellent work with two types of penalties.

Recruiters are not your friends

If you want to build a strong employer brand and attract more talent to your organization, pay attention to a study from Duke University that shows your best talent is often taken advantage of. Well, yes, they did a great job. They work very hard and very effectively, but they don’t make more money. When they get things done, they get more work.

Ordinary people, easily replaceable people, they’ve figured this out. All they were doing was scraping by.

If you want to build a strong employer brand, stop leveraging your great talent. Don’t overwork them to the point of burnout so you can attract and retain more people like them.
