In 2025, the Zenbivy light bed consists of two different quilt styles, namely light quilts and lightweight convertible quilts, as well as full or half-length light plates. I have tested and recommended a convertible quilt that gives you more options to use in a wider range of backpack background schemes. The convertible quilt can be taken apart and completely flat, just like the quilt on the home bed, but it can also be cut into a mummy bag-style, waterless foot box to make it colder on the night.
I love the ability to stretch my feet out completely seamlessly on summer nights. For me, this makes it more likely to use a 20-degree quilt on a warm night than I could have used, which makes convertible quilts more useful.
The size of the convertible quilt (25 degree rating) is $319, while the uninsulated long sheet (25 degree rating) is $129, and the combination is $448. Zenbivy’s 2025 remodel of the light bed is the new 25-Donier (25d) Pongee fabric, which is on all panels that touch your skin – the interior of the sheets, hood and quilts. It is softer and less nylon than the older version. You can also get one and a half pieces, which saves about 5 ounces of weight, although I haven’t tested it.
My favorite part about new paper is no In it, DWR coating. I’m not a fan of chemicals, especially in the stuff I sleep, so it’s a welcome change. Would I wish there was an all-natural merino wool Zenbivy sheet? Why yes, yes, I would do this (although it would be heavy without a doubt), but no, so I’m at least happy to see some chemicals removed. Note that the quilt’s shell does have a PFAS-free DWR coating to help shed any tent moisture that may come into contact with.
