A piece of advice for career changers

By Jeff Altman, Big Game Hunter
As someone who coaches people on job searches and career changes, I encourage people to talk to many people about what work is really like, not just one or two.
This gives them a chance to see patterns in the answers, which tells them what their workday is actually like.
I want them to understand what they need to know to get into the field and, if possible, learn how alumni from the schools they attended got into the field. I want them to learn from their current company if there is any way to transition to a new job at their current company.
I encourage them to take career aptitude tests to get career ideas that fit their personality and then learn what they need to study to get into the field.
