Jeff Altman, Hunter, explains how to answer this annoying interview question perfectly.
Interviewed in high temperatures. Interview in the cold.
Jeff Altman,,,,, Large game hunterI want to talk to you about one of those tough interview questions I know because one of my clients told me this story. So, this is a difficult interview question today. Ready? What lunch did I have? This is posing. The person participated in five interviews. Three by phone; two face to face. Flying in, he finally met with the merchant to get the features he was going to support, and one of the questions asked was What lunch did I have? Now, I know in another video, I tell people who are relatively inexperienced, What’s in my pocket? The answer is twenty dollars, one hundred dollars, and how to answer.
But one thing they want to see when you’re a veteran is watching them in their eyes when they are uncomfortable, rather than throwing them into the bull, just simply say, “I don’t know.” When they say, “Don’t you know?” “Yes, I don’t know. Now, I can make up a story for you, I’m sure it’s very reasonable, but the truth is, I don’t know.” Isn’t this something you can say when you wish someone didn’t know the answer and was there to help you? For you, is it a clever rebuttal? No, of course not. They just said, “Don’t I know?”
