The second-generation Apple Watch is on the outdated list: That’s what it means

When Apple products reach a certain age, Apple turns them into “retro” or “outdated”. For those still around the second generation of Apple Watch, your time has come. Apple puts the Series 1 model on its outdated list, meaning the company has run out of parts and the watch is no longer available.

It joins the other half of the second-generation Apple watch, and the series was added to the outdated list last year.

This may be a bit confusing. Apple Watch Series 1 and Apple Watch Series 2 They are all considered to be the same generation. Back in time, the original Apple Watch didn’t have an official series name. So when Series 1 was launched in 2016, the original Apple Watch was retrospectively called Series 0. Series 2 was also launched in 2016 with Series 1, so both are considered Apple’s second generation.

Apple stopped selling Series 2 when Series 3 appeared, but sold the Apple Watch Series 1 with Series 3 as a low-cost option. So Series 2 goes to the Vintage and Ompolete list, which was the year before Series 1. The good news is that the entire second generation is now on the outdated list and is therefore confused today. Looking ahead, each series is its own generation, starting with Series 3.

What does it mean to be outdated in Apple products?

The way Apple’s product lifespan works is predictable. Apple releases products, sells them for a while, and then stops when new products appear. After five to seven years (depending on the product), Apple put the product on the retro list. This means that Apple has stopped making new parts that the company can use to repair damaged equipment. However, Apple and Apple-authorized service providers (AASPs) can still repair devices as long as they still have parts.

Once Apple runs out of parts, the product will surface in an outdated list and can no longer be repaired by Apple.

Since the parts may come and go at different intervals, this may explain why the Apple Watch Series 4 is already on the outdated list, although a few years younger than Series 1 or Series 2.

What does this mean to me?

If you own the Apple Watch Series 1, it means you can no longer repair your watch with Apple. Third-party repair shops may be able to repair watches, but they cannot use official Apple parts to complete them. In short, this means that it may be time to upgrade your aging watch in the end. What we hear Apple Watch Series 10 is very good.
